The Martin's Garden

For me, one of the neatest things about learning how to garden is making compost! What a neat process of recycling yard and kitchen waste into food for plants. It does take a lot of work, though, to get nice compost. I don't have it quite down to a science yet but I marvel at the creativity of our God who put the microscopic organisms in the soil (they're everywhere, probably) to get a pile of stuff to heat up really hot. We utilize 2 composting barrels and a plain, old pile.

Here is the compost pile with our house in the background.

I labor for hours to hack through those evil weeds and grass so you can dig it up and plant weeds!!! *hummph*

Who are you? I don't have a slave. Are you referring to hacking through the compost pile? We probably will end up planting some weeds but ideally the compost pile gets hot enough to kill all seeds.

Thanks for coming down this weekend, it was nice to see you, and thanks for your videography, even if you did miss my speech!
