Tornado Warning, Severe Thunderstorm Warning
Thankfully we were spared any high winds, hail and more storm damage. Well, sort of. Our chimney began leaking like a screen door on a submarine tongiht during the rain. I first noticed water running down the fireplace cover and dripping onto the fireplace shelf. I dashed upstairs and climbed into the attic to see from whence this uninvited deluge was coming. With my headlamp on high intensity I demonstrated my agility by maneuvering to the chimney, crawling around boxes and 2x4 trusses. The headlamp illuminated the sad situation. Water was indeed running in a nearly constant stream from a crack in the flashing on the uphill side of the chimney.
There would be no fixing this tonight so I quickly reacted. Now there is a 2 gallon bucket directly under the drip, hanging on a #10, 3" screw.
I can't remember the last time I experienced a tornado warning. I wonder how the rest of the Lehigh Valley faired tonight?
