Reform Is Not A Good Enough Reason
It is a hard lesson that most of us learn more than once: bad consequences often follow bad decisions. We may even regret our actions before the consequences happen but the consequences still come. Mercy is not receiving what we deserve; often it not receiving a punishment. Grace is receiving what we do not deserve; often receiving blessings that are unwarranted. Tookie deserved death according to the law of California. Even though he spoke out against violence while in prison (as far as I can tell) he never acknowledged or admitted his wrong to anyone, not even God and God is no fool.
How can there be liberty for all if justice is not upheld? Answer me you liberals. Can liberty exist without justice? We the People of the United States, in Order to form a more perfect Union, establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defence, promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America.
How can the state "promote the general welfare" if justice is not upheld?
I contend it is just for the state to execute murderers.
